DURANGO, Colo. – Black Hills State women's soccer fell to Fort Lewis, 2-0 Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets (1-11-2) put up four shots as a team, with shots on goal from
Darby Whiteley and
Lexi Crow.
Alexa Buckley and
Leah Day also recorded shots, while
Makayla Dannelly hauled in 10 saves in the box on 20 shots faced.
After a pair of FLC shots early in the match, Day put up BHSU's first shot in the 12th minute. After three saves and five shots faced for Dannelly between the pipes, FLC scored on their sixth shot of the game in the 24th minute to move ahead 1-0.
Teams traded possessions the rest of the period and FLC rattled off five more shots before halftime, but the Yellow Jacket defense held the match to 1-0.
Out of the break, FLC booted a quick goal to extend to a 2-0 lead in the 48th minute. Whiteley put up a shot on goal to the upper lefthand corner of the net in the 50th minute, but the Skyhawks keeper was able to get in front of it for the save.
BHSU got themselves a good look following a Yellow Jacket free kick in the 59th minute as Buckley turned to get a shot off, but it ricocheted off a FLC player as the game remained 2-0.
Crow would have a shot on goal saved by the FLC keeper in the 75th minute towards the top of the goal, but that would be the final shot of the match for the Yellow Jackets as the team fell 2-0.

The Yellow Jackets will turn around and play Western Colorado on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. before playing their final game of the season at home against Metro State on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m.
