Black Hills State women's soccer concludes the 2022 season on Wednesday, Oct. 26 as the team hosts Metro State for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
The Yellow Jackets are currently 1-12-2 overall and 1-10 in the RMAC, while Metro State is 10-3-4 overall and 6-2-3 in the RMAC to sit in fifth place.
MSUD is coming off a 1-0 loss to Fort Lewis on Sunday, Oct. 23, but had been undefeated in its previous seven matches.
"Metro State has conceded just eight goals in RMAC play this season and are a team that is very good at controlling matches," said Head Coach Andrew Conniff. "They are defensively sound, good in possession, and have some very talented players in attack."
The young Yellow Jacket squad has had 15 players log over 350 minutes of RMAC play this season, nine of which are underclassmen.
Leah Day and Chloe Lonneman are two of the team's center midfielders who have both continued to grow with each performance. And goalkeeper Makayla Dannelly played the best two games of her career this past weekend, making 25 saves with a .862 save percentage.
"This season we have leaned on many freshmen and sophomores to play huge roles," added Conniff. "This is a tough ask of them, to step in with little experience and compete in one of the best soccer conferences in the country. I think we have seen a few make huge progress throughout this season."
All-time, Yellow Jacket soccer is 0-6 against MSUD, having last played on Nov. 3, 2021, in which BHSU fell in a close 1-0 match.
