Black Hills State women's soccer hits the road this weekend, taking on Adams State and New Mexico Highlands.
The Yellow Jackets travel to ASU on Friday, Oct. 7 for a 1 p.m. kickoff before their Sunday, Oct. 9 match at 11 a.m. at NMHU.
"Adams State is currently one place above us in the RMAC standing while NM Highlands is one place below us," said Head Coach
Andrew Conniff. "We look at this weekend as an opportunity to prove our ability and take a positive step towards our goals."
The Yellow Jackets are 1-5-2 on the season and currently sit 12th in the RMAC standing.
"We just finished a very difficult stretch of matches," Conniff added. "In our last four matches we played the top three teams in the RMAC and in our last five matches we played four teams ranked in the top-eight in the region. Playing against this level of competition can make you question yourself and your ability. However, I think we tried to be brave and progressive in the way we played these top teams and have come out of these difficult fixtures better than we were prior to it."

BHSU and Adams State both sit with one win in the RMAC. The Grizzlies' RMAC victory came against Western Colorado on Sept. 25 after their lone non-conference win over Texas A&M International on Sept. 9.
"From what I have seen, Adams State is an incredibly athletic and hard-working group of players," said Conniff. "They have a couple of attacking players who are very talented and could pose a threat to score, as well as a very good goalkeeper."
All-time, Yellow Jacket soccer is 1-3-1 all time against ASU, having last played Oct. 15, 2021, in a 2-2 draw. BHSU defeated ASU the year prior in a 1-0 win in 2019.

This season, NMHU is last in the RMAC with a 0-9 overall record, having scored two goals this season.
"NM Highlands has had a similar run of form in the RMAC as we have. No doubt that will be a game where both teams want to prove themselves."
BHSU soccer is 2-3 all-time against NMHU. The Yellow Jackets have won the last two meetings, most recently on Oct. 17, 2021 with a 4-3 win.
