Black Hills State softball will begin its 2022 season with a pair of double-headers against New Mexico Highlands on Saturday and Sunday in Las Vegas, N.M.
The Yellow Jackets will play two on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and a pair on Sunday, Feb. 27, also at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Brandt Field.
The two teams last played on Feb. 28 and March 1, 2021 in which they split both doubleheaders. All-time, the Yellow Jackets are 6-18 against NHMU, but have won four of their last six meetings.
BHSU was been picked to finish 12th in the RMAC after the conference released its 2022 preseason poll in January.
The BHSU softball program finished last season with a record of 3-34-1 over 38 games played following a pandemic-shortened 2020 season the year prior.
However, this season projects more optimism than previous years with a mix of returning talent and new faces, as well as a new coaching staff in Head CoachÂ
Aubrey Voboril and Assistant CoachÂ
Kyle Honeycutt.
