Yellow Jackets Have One All-American at Indoor Track and Field Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Black Hills State track and field caps off a successful indoor season with a solid showing at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships.
 
In the meets second day of competition the Yellow Jackets had one competitor with Kyla Sawvell taking the circle to compete in the women's shot-put event for BHSU. Sawvell stepped into the ring having already earned an All-American award in the women's weight throw in day one of competition.
 
Kyla earned her best mark of the meet on her third and final throw where she launched the shot put 13.83m (45' 4.5") which had her in seventh place at then end of the first flight. At the end of flight two Sawvell had found herself in 14th place overall in the nation for BHSU.

During day one of competition the Yellow Jackets also had Ruby Lindquist competing in the women's mile. Lindquist finished with a time of 4:53.45 for a 17th place finish overall.
 
Up Next
The Yellow Jackets will open the outdoor season on March 25 at home as they are set to host the Yellow Jacket Open/Multi over the 25th and 26th.
