Black Hills State track and field has earned its place at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships with two athletes selected to compete in Pittsburg, Kansas March 11 and 12.
The NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships is slated to run over two days with heptathlon starting things off Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. and pentathlon slated to begin competition on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
For the Yellow Jackets,
Ruby Lindquist starts things off competing in the first round of the women's mile at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. Currently Lindquist is ranked 19th in the women's mile with a time of 4:52.60. If Lindquist places in the top eight, she will move on the compete in the mile finals which will be run Saturday at 4:50 p.m.
Friday afternoon
Kyla Sawvell will be competing in the women's weight throw at 3:55 p.m. Sawvell is currently ranked 15th with a mark of 19.12m. Last season Sawvell earned an 11th place finish with a mark of 17.92m at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Saturday evening Sawvell is set to compete in the women's shot put at 4:05 p.m. Currently Sawvell is ranked 10th in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.93m. Last year Sawvell earned a third-place finish with a personal best mark of 15.04m in the shot put at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships.
