Volleyball Earns 2022 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Black Hills State volleyball has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season, as announced by the United State Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Monday morning.

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2021-22 season with a cumulative team GPA of 3.64. Over 1,200 collegiate and high school teams across the nations were awarded the honor.

"Academic achievement does not happen by accident," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "I'm so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority."

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
