LEXINGTON, Ky.- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their honorees for the AVCA Team Academic Award Honor Roll Thursday morning. Among the honorees was the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets who were also named to the Honor Roll, which is given to the teams in the top 20% of their division.
The Yellow Jackets finished the year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.791. BHSU was one of 32 teams named to the AVCA Team Academic Award honor roll in NCAA Division II and was one of five RMAC schools and one of three South Dakota schools to receive that honor. This is BHSU's eighth time winning this award with the last being in 2024 and their fourth time ever winning AVCA Honor Roll.
Collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).
The AVCA also celebrates programs in the top 20 percent for their division by recognizing them with the Team Academic Honor Roll distinction.
