DENVER, Colo. – Black Hills State women's soccer dropped its Sunday afternoon match with Regis, 6-0.
The Yellow Jackets (1-5-2) totaled six shots and three on goal, led by
Haley Hesselgesser who finished with a shot on goal on three shots.
Allie Brown and
Alexa Buckley also tallied shots on goal, while
Leah Day also added a shot to her stat line.
While the team faced a season-high 30 shots on the afternoon, goalkeeper
Morgan Wood hauled in a career-high 10 saves.
Both teams started slow, trading possessions early on. Regis would break the scoreless tie in the 16th minute, though, using a header off a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, at 21:02, the Rangers scored again on their next corner kick to make it a 2-0 game.
The Yellow Jackets would get their looks, though, as Brown put up a shot on goal in the 30th minute, and then Buckley had a good look with a shot on goal in 43rd minute.
BHSU continued to pressure before halftime as Hesselgesser put up a shot on goal in 45th minute for the team's fifth shot within the final 15 minutes of the first half, but the Yellow Jackets went to the locker room down 2-0.
Out of the break, Regis added on with a goal in the 50th minute to extend to a 3-0 lead. From there, Regis went on to score in the 60th, 65th and 82nd minute to win the match, 6-0.

The Yellow Jackets return home next weekend as they host CSU Pueblo on Friday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. and UCCS on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m.
