Yellow Jacket volleyball begins the regular season with a home match-up against the rival South Dakota Mines Hardrockers on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets are returning to the Donald E. Young Center after opening their season with two road tournaments: the Rockhurst Invitational in Kansas City, Mo. and the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Last weekend in Fairbanks, the Yellow Jackets competed in four matches against the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, University of Arkansas-Fort Worth, the No. 20 University of Alaska-Anchorage, and Florida Southern.

Madison Hoopman leads the offensive effort for the Yellow Jackets after recording a hitting percentage of .160 and 81 kills in the first eight games. She was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Rockhurst Invitational. Libero
Haedyn Rhoades currently leads the RMAC in digs/set, recording 5.60 digs/set at 168 recorded digs. She earned All-Tournament team status in the second tournament after recording 91 digs last weekend, which included a 34-dig game against Arkansas-Fort Smith. Senior setter
Karly Marx ranks top ten in the RMAC at 8.13 assists/set, sitting at a team leading 244 recorded assists.

South Dakota Mines has also competed in two road tournaments to start their season. The Hardrockers currently sit at 3-5 after splitting both days at the Augustana Volleyball Classic in Sioux Falls, South Dakota this past weekend.

The last contest between the Hardrockers and the Yellow Jackets was played on Sept. 28, 2021 in Rapid City, with South Dakota Mines beating the Yellow Jackets after the game went to five sets.
