Senior Lincoln Fleischman and sophomore Katie Turpin of the Black Hills State Cross Country program join Jacket Chats, the official podcast of Black Hills State Athletics, for episode four. They sat down with host Bryce Johnson to talk about their season thus far, the RMAC Championship race this weekend, and the team's annual preseason camping trip.

2022: Competed in all six meets during the 2022 season for BHSU… finished eighth at the Gage McSpadden Memorial 6k (19:33.3)… improved his marks at the Chadron State Collegiate meet with a sixth place performance (19:42.13)… ran a sixth place 8k run at the Yellowjacket Open (25:23.6)… placed 61^st at the Pre-National meet (25:39.3) and 59^th at the 2022 RMAC Championships (27:01.1)… tied for 66^th at the South Central Regionals (33:23.6).
 
2021: Competed in five meets for the Yellow Jackets … Placed 12th at the Hardrocker XC Invite … Placed 88th out of 374 runners at the Roy Griak Invitational … Finished in 15th at the Yellowjacket Open … Earned an 89th place finish at the RMAC Championship Meet … Earned a 108th place finish at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Cross Country Championships … Earned a career best 8K time of 27:16.2 at the SD Mines Hardrocker XC Classic … Earned a career best 10K time at the NCAA DII South Central Region Cross Country Championships with a time of 33:25.5.

2020: Competed in two meets for the Yellow Jackets ... Placed eleventh at the Gage McSpadden Memorial with a time of 28:54.06 ... Placed 95th at the RMAC Cross Country Championships with a time of 29:18.6.

Before BHSU: Ran track, cross country, and played football at Kingdom Prep … earned the Warrior Award in track in 2018, 2019 and 2020 as well as 2017 MVP … was high school MVP in cross country in 2018 and 2019 … was 2017 MVP in football, and Warrior in 2016 and 2018 … older sister, Jorie runs cross country at Lubbock Christian University.

Katie Turpin
2022: Ran for all six meets in the Yellow Jackets' 2022 season… debuted at the Gage McSpadden Memorial and finished in 12^th (21:25.1) before improving to a third place mark at the Chadron State Collegiate Invite (20:40.65)… recorded season low at Yellowjacket Invite in Billings, Montana (19:35.3) for 15^th… recorded a 133^rd place finish at the NCAA Pre-National 6k in Tacoma, Washington (23:55.8)… competed at the 2022 RMAC Championships and placed 95^th (26:54.4)… ran for BHSU at the NCAA DII Regional Championships and placed 87^th (24:44.0).

Before BHSU: Turpin competed at Sheridan High School and had the following times: a one mile time of 5:18, a two-mile time of 11:40, and a 5k time of 18:53. Turpin graduated with a class rank of 25th, carrying a 3.9 GPA.
