Black Hills State women's soccer dropped its match to Fort Lewis Friday evening, 3-0.
The Yellow Jackets (3-8-2, 1-5-2 RMAC) honored their four seniors,
Lexi Crow,
Sheridan Fenner,
Samantha Turpen and
Morgan Wood before the game in front of a record-setting crowd of 437.
The team totaled five shots, with one each from
Allie Brown,
Leah Day, Fenner, Turpen and
Katy Vinton.
In the box, Wood hauled in four saves on 14 shots faced.
FLC went up 1-0 with goal in the 15th minute. Two big saves from Wood facing one-on-one matchups over the next few minutes of play kept it a 1-0 game.
Turpen put up a shot on a free kick in the 24th minute, but it missed high. The Skyhawks would extend the lead before the half with a goal in the 34th minute and take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Yellow Jackets were able to put up some offensive pressure out of the locker room as Vinton got a shot off in 53rd minute.
FLC followed that up with some good looks of their own, but Wood kept them out of the net with saves in the 58th, 62nd, and 65th minutes.
Teams traded possessions over the next 10 minutes of play, before the Skyhawks added on in the 75th minute to make it 3-0.
BHSU would get one more shot off in the 82nd minute from Brown, but it wouldn't connect as time eventually expired with a 3-0 final score.
