BILLINGS, Mont. – Black Hills State cross country is set to return to competition for one more meet this Friday, Oct. 6 at the Montana State – Billings' 2023 Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open.
 
The meet will take place at Amend Park in Billings, with the women's 6K race starting at 11 a.m. and the men's 8k kicking off at 11:45 a.m.
 
Representing BHSU on the men's side will be Lincoln Fleischman, Tim Brown, Levi Smith, David Standish, Hayden Grosz, Wyatt Ostler, Jaxon Straus, Turner Christians, Justyn France, Mason Swingholm, Alberto Spotted, Caden Strasser, Addison Red Fox, Aydan Loya, and Marcos Valerio.
 
Lacing them up for the Lady Yellow Jackets will be Sylvia Brown, Katie Knutson, Katie Turpin, Evie Boyd, Sierra Hopp, Alexis Weiers, Katelyn Krieger, Abigail Robberson, Norah Entzi, and Reilly Wilson.
 
14 teams including BHSU will fill the field at Amend Park, including two other RMAC teams in Chadron State and South Dakota Mines. The hosting MSU Billings and UMary will round out the other NCAA DII programs in attendance.
 
Montana State, the University of Montana, Caroll College, Montana Tech, Rocky Mountain College, Dickenson State, Montana Western, Providence, Dawson Community College and Central Wyoming Community College will also appear for the meet.
 
LAST MEET

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Black Hills State cross country completed their respective team races at the Roy Griak Invitational last weekend at the University of Minnesota, with the Yellow Jacket men's team landing 12th while the BHSU women's team placed 13th.
 
MEN
Leading the BHSU men's squad in the Jo Rider Men's Maroon race was Tim Brown, who completed the race in sixth place with a 25:50.9 run.
 
Lincoln Fleischman (25:54.3) timed out of the race in 44th while Marcos Valerio (27:20.4) and Jaxon Straus (27:24.7) finished in 76th and 80th, respectively.
 
David Standish (27:25.2) completed the 8K in 81st, with Hayden Grosz (27:33.8) and Turner Christians (27:44.0) rounded out the Yellow Jacket men's runners in 93rd and 98th.
 
The men's field saw 32 teams from NCAA DII and DIII conferences in attendance, with nearly 500 runners filling the field in Minneapolis.
 
WOMEN
Sylvia Brown paved the way for the Yellow Jacket ladies in the Suzy Wilson Women's Maroon Race on Friday morning, completing the 6k race in sixth with a 22:26.8 clock out time.
 
Kaite Turpin (23:45.9) was the next Yellow Jacket to cross the finish line as she finished in 43rd, while Alexis Weiers (24:59.7) and Evie Boyd (25:29.3) were in tow in 106th and 128th.
 
Norah Entzi (26:57.6) and Katie Knutson (27:27.8) were the last of the BHSU women to finish the 6K race, with the ladies taking 177th and 187th, respectively.
 
The Roy Griak's Women's Maroon race field saw 37 teams in competition on Friday, with over 400 runners competing for their NCAA DII and DIII schools.
