Jacket Chats Episode 2: Lilja McKendry

In the second episode of Jacket Chats, the official podcast of Black Hills State University Athletics, Lilja McKendry, a senior Triathlete for BHSU, joins the show. She sat down with host Bryce Johnson to talk about, among other things, competing against teams at all three NCAA Divisions, the team's recent home triathlon, the Black Hills Collegiate Cup, and her favorite part about participating in triathlon.

Last year, McKendry raced in all six triathlons and was the first Yellow Jacket to finish with a time of 1:03:06 at the Southern Hills Triathlon (9/3). She also paced BHSU in 1:09:28 at the Oktoberfest Triathlon (9/24) before placing 10th at the West Regional Qualifier (10/15) in a time of 1:07:46. In the spring, she finished third (59:12) at the Stanford Treeathlon (3/5) and second (1:17:11.65) at the Black Hills Tri Fest (4/23).

Before BHSU, McKendry graduated from First Colonial High School in Virginia where she competed in cross country and swimming. In swimming she was named All-State in her junior year and was a member of the state champion 4x200 meter relay team. She took fifth in the USA Triathlon Draft-Legal National Championships to qualify for World Championships.

Jacket Chats will be available on BHSUAthletics.com, and on the BHSU Athletics YouTube channel.
