COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference released the 2022-23 All-Conference rosters on Wednesday morning, with three Black Hills State players receiving conference honors.
Headlining the ladies' squad was
Danica Kocer and
Niki Van Wyk, who secured spots onto the RMAC women's basketball First Team All-Conference, with graduate forward
Ellie Moore being named an All-RMAC honorable mention.
Danica Kocer
Throughout much of the season, Kocer has been the scoring leader for the Yellow Jackets and currently sits with 12.9 ppg, which ranks her 14
th in the RMAC. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native also ranks 12
th in three-pointers per game and 14
th in free throw percentage, despite playing through injury since December of 2022.
Kocer is also a decorated academic athlete as she was named the RMAC All-Academic Player of the Year and is a member of the RMAC's First-Team All-Academic, the RMAC Honor Roll, and CSC Academic All-District team thanks to her 4.0 GPA as a composite science education and chemistry major.
Niki Van Wyk
Van Wyk has had an absolute breakout of a season in her 2022-23 campaign, nearly doubling her production from last season. The senior from Appleton, Wisconsin leads her team in five statistical categories, ranking nationally in two of them.
Last season, Van Wyk finished the season with 552 total minutes from the bench: at the time of this release, Van Wyk has logged 911 minutes as a starter averaging 32.5 minutes per contest that is sixth in the RMAC. Her made three-pointers this season, 61, puts her in the top five in the RMAC and ranks her 60
th in NCAA Divison II, nearly triple her production in the previous year as well.
Van Wyk hit a career-high 21 points against Colorado Christian on Jan. 26, hitting that mark twice more before the end of the regular season. She hit her 500
th career point against MSU Denver on Feb. 4 in a game where she tied her career-high 21-point performance.
Ellie Moore
Joining the Yellow Jackets this year as a graduate transfer from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, the six-foot forward from Phoenix, Arizona has been a great defender for BHSU. She is fifth in the RMAC in recorded blocks with 30 on the season, with the mark tying her for 60
th in Division II.
Moore currently averages seven points per game for BHSU and is only four points away from her 200
th point in the season, with her 196 already a career-best for the graduate.
