Black Hills State women's soccer will kick off the 2023 season this weekend as the team hits the road for matches on Saturday and Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Mitchell, S.D. to take on Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 12 p.m., before returning to the pitch on Sunday in Yankton, S.D. to play Mount Marty at 8Â a.m.
BHSU finished last season with a 1-13-2 record overall and 1-11 in the RMAC. This year, though, the team enters the campaign under new head coach
John Hutchison, who previously helped turn a Presentation program into a winning team from 2020 to 2022.

DWU finished last season 3-12-1 overall and 1-11 in the GPAC. So far this season, the Tigers are 1-1 with a 5-0 loss to Bellevue on Aug. 19 and then a 6-0 win over Western Iowa Tech Community College on Aug. 21.
All-time, the Yellow Jackets are 1-1 against DWU, with a 2-0 win in 2016 and a 3-2 overtime loss in 2019.

This will be the Yellow Jackets' first-ever meeting with Mount Marty, who finished last season with a 1-13-2 overall record, and 0-12 in the GPAC. The Lancers' lone win came against Buena Vista University over one year ago, on Aug. 29, 2022.
