SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's cross country teams will be in action early on Saturday, October 12, as they get set to run against a field of more than 50 teams at the UAH Chargers Cross Country Invitational. The event hosted by the University of Alabama Huntsville gets underway at 7 a.m. MST with an 8K for the men, followed by a 6K race for the women at 7:50 a.m. MST.

BLACK HILLS STATE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY STORYLINES
- Black Hills State began the season with a pair of top-3 finishes, recording a third place finish in the Gage McSpadden Memorial and a win in the Blue Hawk Invitational.
- Gavin Kuhlenbeck has been the top runner for the Yellow Jackets this season, running to a second place finish and 6K time of 18:51.43 in the Gage McSpadden Memorial before posting a winning 8K time of 25:28.3 at the Blue Hawk Invitational.
- Turner Christians has posted a pair of top-15 finishes this year, earning a 12th place finish at the Gage McSpadden Memorial with a 6K time of 19:18.01, followed by a fifth place finish with an 8K time of 26:46.6 at the Blue Hawk Invitational.
- Also posting top-10 finishes at the Dickinson State hosted meet a few weekends ago included Braik Hurm, Dominic Eberle, David Standish, Addison Red Fox, Marcos Valerio, and Justyn France.
- Brian Medigovich is in his fourth season leading the Yellow Jacket cross country programs as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country.

BLACK HILLS STATE WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY STORYLINES
- Black Hills State began the season with a pair of top-2 finishes, recording a second place finish in the Gage McSpadden Memorial and a win in the Blue Hawk Invitational.
- Sylvia Brown has been the top runner for the Yellow Jackets this season, running to a fifth place finish with a 4K time of 15:09.30 at the Gage McSpadden Memorial before posting a winning 6K time of 22:37.4 at the Blue Hawk Invitational.
- Emma Hofmeister has tallied a pair of top-5 finishes to begin her collegiate career, earning a 5th place finish at the Gage McSpadden Memorial with a 4K time of 15:18.79 and a second place finish at the Blue Hawk Invitational with a 6K time of 23:18.2.
- Katelyn Krieger, Evelyn Boyd, Alexis Weiers, Abiigail Robberson, Norah Entzi, and Sierra Hopp each also added a top-10 finish in the Dickinson State hosted meet, helping BHSU posted a perfect score of 15 for the first time since the 2018 DII West Region Preview.
