SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State men's and women's rodeo teams will continue their sprint through the fall portion of their 2024-25 schedule as they take to the road once again this weekend as they travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa, for the Triton Stampede hosted by Iowa Central Community College. The 2-day event will get underway on Friday afternoon with a slack beginning at 11 a.m. MT / 12 p.m. CT at the Webster County Fairgrounds.

BLACK HILLS STATE MEN'S RODEO STORYLINES
- The Black Hills State men's rodeo team enters this weekend as the No. 6 team in the updated NIRA Great Plains Region Standings with 586 points as of September 30. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a ninth place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede in which they tallied 30 points. BHSU has recorded one top-5 finish on the year, a fourth place mark at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1.
- Luke Mavity is currently No. 4 in the region's tie down roping standings, totaling 235.0 points thus far on the year. To start the season he has posted a second place finish at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo, a fifth place finish at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2, and a sixth place finish at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1.
- In steer wrestling Gabe Glines is just outside of the top-10 in the region's standings, ranking 11th with 117 points during the 2024-25 season so far. He's tacked on a third place finish at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1 and a ninth place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede in the event.
- Jess Harper is currently third in the region team roping heeler standings with 214. Points. He's notched a win in the event at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2, with Colton Zubach of Dickinson State University while also earning a fifth place finish in the Mid-Plains Colllege Stampede Rodeo #1.
- Glen Lammers is in his 17th season as the head coach of the Yellow Jacket men's and women's rodeo program.
BLACK HILLS STATE WOMEN'S RODEO STORYLINES
- The Black Hills State women's rodeo team enters this weekend as the No. 1 team in the updated NIRA Great Plains Region Standings with 1,334.83 points as of September 30, while Dickinson State University who is second only has 670 points at this point. The Yellow Jackets saw their streak of three consecutive rodeo victories to begin the season come to an end last weekend as they collected a season place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede. BHSU has earned team titles this year at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo, the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1, and the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2.
- Cshae McGee is the top student-athlete in the Women's All-Around standings currently with 590 points as she's earned one all-around title thus far in 2024, occurring at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2. Additionally, Emma Ohm has earned one all-around title, which happened at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1.
- McGee is currently second in the region in the barrel racing event, totaling 292 points so far this season after placing third at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo and Mid-Plains Stampede Rodeo #1, and fourth at the Mid-Plains Stampede Rodeo #2. Also ranked within the region in the event for Black Hills State is Jayda Reinert who is seventh with 125 points, Sierra Steele who is tenth with 115 points, and Adeline Norstegaard who is 12th with 90 points.
- Ohm currently leads the region in breakaway roping, totaling 385 points through four rodeos so far this season. She has recorded a pair of titles in the event with wins at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo and the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1, while also adding a fifth place finish at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2. Briley Anderson and Kashlin Bettelyoun are also within the top-15 in the region, currently ranked 11th and 15th with 96.5 and 70 points respectively.
- Leading the Yellow Jackets in goat tying this year has been McGee and Raylee Fagerhaug, who are currently ranked second and third respectively in the region. McGee has tallied 298 points in 2024 with a win in the event at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2, a second place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede, and an eighth place finish at the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #1. Fagerhaug has collected 268.3 points this season thus far, recording a second place finish at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo and the Mid-Plains College Stampede Rodeo #2, as well as a third place finish at the Blue Hawk Stampede. Other BHSU athletes ranked within the region in the event are Ohm who is seventh with 141.5 points, Capri Cammack who is tenth with 90 points, Haley Husted who is 12th with 85 points, and Linley Schmitz who is 14th with 55 points.
- Glen Lammers enters his 17th season as the head coach of the Yellow Jacket men's and women's rodeo program.
