COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Black Hills State University women's basketball student-athletes have been recognized by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) for their play on the basketball court this season, highlighted by Second Team All-Conference performer
Kalla Bertram.
Kalla Bertram – Second Team
It's been a break out year for
Kalla Bertram (Jr., Colome, S.D.) who has paced the Yellow Jackets in multiple categories this season. She has sparked the offense with her team-high 61 steals this season, averaging 2.3 steals per contest, both marks sitting top-10 in the RMAC at eighth. Furthermore, she also paced the team in rebounding, grabbing 5.1 boards per contest.
The junior has stormed on the offensive seen in the month of February. Over the last six games, heading into the RMAC tournament, Bertram had averaged 16.7 points in the last seven games. She has had her best three scoring games of her career this season at 19, 20, and 27 points. Her 27-point performance against Colorado Christian on the final weekend of the regular season helped secure the No. 6-seed in the tournament.
Additionally, Bertram sat second on the team in assists (48) and is third on the team in field goal percentage (.455). Her 45.5% field goal percentage led all of the Yellow Jacket guards this season.
Bertram is garnering her first-career All-Conference nod in her third season in the green and gold. She picked up RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll honors last season (2022-23).
Morgan Hammerbeck – Honorable Mention
Senior
Morgan Hammerbeck (Hamill, S.D.) had a stellar senior season for Black Hills State, setting a career-high for points scored in a season (211) and per game average (8.4). Her 8.4 points per game ended the regular season third on the team, though she lead the team in scoring a majority of the season.
The Hamill, South Dakota native also started in all 25 games she played in this season and sat second on the team in rebounding (119) and per game average (4.8). She led the Yellow Jackets with her 49 assists on the season, while also recording 35 steals.
Hammerbeck caps off a solid four-year career in a Yellow Jacket uniform with her first-career All-Conference honor, earning Honorable Mention accolades. She also has a pair of RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll recognitions to her name (2021-22, 2022-23).
Ellie Moore – Honorable Mention
Ellie Moore (Gr., Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Yellow Jackets with her .478 field goal percentage and .821 free throw percentage this season. At the end of the regular season, she sat second on the team in scoring at 9.1 points per game and brought down 4.2 rebounds per game.
Like Bertram, she picked up steam towards the end of the season, ending the regular season with five-straight double-figure scoring contests, including a season-high 18 points in the road win at Fort Lewis on February 23. On the season, she tallied 13 double-digit scoring games for Black Hills State.
Moore follows up her Honorable Mention accolades from a season ago with her second this season, being recognized by the league in both of her seasons in a BHSU uniform.
The Yellow Jackets ended the season with a 17-10 record, earning a bid to the RMAC Tournament as the No. 6-seed.
