BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Black Hills State University golf team wrapped up the 2023-24 season at the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships out in Boulder City, Nevada where
Katie Jorgenson led the Yellow Jackets with a three-round score of 1074 (+210).
ROUND 1 (SUNDAY)
Jorgenson (So., Sheridan, Wyo.) shot the team's best round in Round 1 of the RMAC Championships on Sunday, shooting an 84 (+12) round to sit T42nd through the first 18 holes.
After the first day of golf in the Las Vegas area, South Dakota Mines' Annika Schooler and CSU Pueblo's Freya Constable sat atop the individual leaderboard with scorecards of 69 (-3). Chadron State's Jordan Grasis was the other RMAC golfer to finish under par in Round 1, shooting a 71 (-1).
The Thunderwolves held a nine-stroke advantage in the team race after Sunday's round, sitting with a team score of 288 (E).
ROUND 2 (MONDAY)
Round 2 on Monday saw both
Cami Langley (Jr., Casper, Wyo.) and
Ava Kalanek (Fr., Bismarck, N.D.) shoot rounds of eight- and six-strokes, respectively, better than Round 1. Both moved up three to four spots in the individual standings, sitting in a tie for 47
th after two rounds with scores of 180 (+36) each.
Jorgenson also improved her first-round score by a stroke, shooting an 83 (+11) in Round 2 and sliding up into a tie for 41
st place. She would continue to lead the team with a two-round scorecard of 167 (+23).
CSU Pueblo would continue to hold a lead, pushing it up to 10 strokes after two rounds of play with a two-round score of 595 (+19). The Thunderwolves' Freya Constable would take sole possession of first-place with a 144 (E), holding a three-stroke lead over three other RMAC golfers heading into the final day of play.
ROUND 3 (TUESDAY)
Jorgenson shot the team's best round of the day with an 86 (+14), going on to take a tie for 42
nd-place for the Yellow Jackets.
CSU Pueblo took the team championship by 22 strokes, holding onto their Day 1 lead. The Thunderwolves shot a three-round 889 (+225) to claim the RMAC title. On the individual front, Meredith Boos of Regis University took the gold medal with a 217 (+1) three-round mark, taking the individual title by two strokes.
Black Hills State recorded team rounds of 355-359-360 for a three-round score of 1074 (+72) which took 10
th place in the field of 11 RMAC women's golf teams.
