SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University Athletic Department saw their student-athletes turn in an impressive semester in the classroom for the fall of 2024, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.331, seeing a jump from a 3.224 spring 2024 department GPA. Among the school's 14 intercollegiate athletic program's 12 posted a GPA of at least 3.0 and nine were above a 3.5. The five men's athletic programs combined for a 3.078 GPA while the nine women's athletic programs combined for a 3.593 GPA, both up from the previous spring semester. Additionally, of the 349 student-athletes on campus, 308 recorded a GPA of 3.0 or better and 115 posted a 4.0, increases of 52 and 41 student-athletes respectively.
 
Leading the way for the athletic department were two programs who recorded a 3.9 GPA or better, which included men's rodeo who was the highest men's program with a 3.932 GPA and women's triathlon who was the highest women's program with a 3.911 GPA. Other team's which tallied a GPA of 3.5 or better were women's basketball (3.804), softball (3.778), women's soccer (3.613), women's cross country (3.606), women's track & field (3.529), women's rodeo (3.508), and volleyball (3.507).
 
Rounding out the 12 programs' for BHSU which posted at least a 3.0 GPA included men's cross country (3.413), men's track & field (3.214), and men's basketball (3.185). Concluding the fall 2024 GPAs in the Black Hills State athletic department include women's golf (2.992) and football (2.897).
