Reinert Races Away with Fifth Barrel Racing Title of 2025 at the Triton Stampede

FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Black Hills State University men's and women's rodeo teams completed the fall portion of their 2025-26 season last Friday and Saturday at the Triton Stampede as the No. 7 nationally-ranked Yellow Jacket cowgirls notched their fifth top-3 finish of the year with 280 points for second place, and the cowboys finished 11th with 30 points. The barrel racers once again dominated the scene with a sweep of the top-3 placings as No. 1 nationally-ranked Jayda Reinert swept both the long go and short go for her fifth title of the year in the event. Additionally, Emma Ohm, the No. 12 nationally-ranked breakaway roper secured her second top-5 finish of the year in the event.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED - MEN'S RODEO
  • Luke Mavity secured his third top-10 of the year in tie down roping as he gained 30 points towards his season point total. He notched a time of 11.3 seconds in the long go but was unable to record a time in the short go.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S RODEO
  • The pair of Raylee Fagerhaug and Haley Husted notched top-5 finishes in goat tying, tying for fourth place with times of 14.3 seconds. For Fagerhaug it was her third top-5 of the year as she posted a time of 7.3 seconds on the long go and 7.0 seconds on the short go to claim 65 points on the weekend, while for Husted it was her second top-5 of the season as she clocked a 7.2 second long go and a 7.1 second short go for 55 points on the weekend.
  • The duo of Emma Ohm and Linley Schmitz led five Yellow Jackets who placed in breakaway roping as they collected top-5 finishes of third and fourth respectively. Ohm's second top-5 finish of the year consisted of a 3.4 second long go and a 2.6 second short go for a total of 6.0 seconds and 90 points for the weekend, while Schmitz recorded a 2.9 second long go and a 3.3 second short go for a total of 6.2 seconds and 60 points for her first top-5 of the season.
  • The trio of Jori Horsburgh, Kenzie Homelvig, and Briley Anderson added sixth, seventh, and ninth place finishes in breakaway roping as well. Horsburgh recorded an overall time of 7.5 seconds for 35 points as she notched a 2.8 second long go and a 4.7 second short go. Homelvig secured 15 points for the weekend with a 16.0 second time overall, also notching a 2.8 second long go while adding a 13.2 second short go time due to a broken barrier penalty. Rounding out the trio, Anderson posted a 3.2 second long go time but was unable to clock a time in the short go.
  • The duo of Jayda Reinert and Lainey Crago paired up in team roping, bringing home a ninth place finish and ten points apiece towards their season totals. In the long go the pair recorded a time of 9.1 seconds but then were unable to clock a time in the short go.
  • The Yellow Jacket cowgirls continued their dominance in barrel racing, sweeping the top-3 placings and taking four of the top-6 placings. The No. 1 barrel racer in the country, Reinert, once again stole the show, winning the long go with a time of 14.46 seconds, the short go with a time of 14.43 seconds, and the overall with a time of 28.89 seconds for the max 180 points for her fifth title of the fall. She was the only barrel racer with a sub-29 second time. Adeline Norstegaard secured a season-best finish of second place for her second top-5 finish of the year as she totaled a time of 29.35 seconds for 110 points. Norstegaard posted times of 14.82 seconds on the long go and 14.53 seconds on the short go. Rounding out the top trio was Capri Cammack who was third place for her first top-5 of the year, clocking a time of 29.47 seconds for 90 points. Cammack notched a time of 14.98 seconds on the long go and posted the second-fastest time of the short go with a time of 24.49 seconds.
  • Kenzie Homelvig rounded out the quartet of Black Hills State barrel racers with a sixth place finish and an overall time of 29.82 seconds for 50 points. She clocked a time of 14.73 seconds on the long go and 15.09 seconds on the short go.
  • Reinert earned her first all-around title of the season, totaling 190 points during the weekend with 180 in barrel racing and ten in team roping. Additionally, Homelvig was second in the all-around with 65 points as she earned 50 in barrel racing and 15 in breakaway roping.
