Thomas Named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The RMAC conference announced their Offensive, Defensive and Setter of the Week awards Monday afternoon. Among the honorees was Ellie Thomas, who was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first RMAC weekly honor for a Yellow Jackets since Haedyn Rhodes won RMAC Defensive Player of the Week in week four of the 2020-21 season. This is Thomas' first ever RMAC award.

  • Ellie Thomas had an incredible weekend helping BHSU compete versus Adams State and New Mexico Highlands. 
  • In 7 sets, Thomas had 44 digs, averaging 6.29 digs per set over the weekend. 
  • In the first matchup versus Adams. Thomas had her fourth 20-dig game of the season. She averaged 5.0 digs per ser with 20 digs.
  • She had her fifth 20-dig game versus NMHU, when she had her second-highest dig game of the season with 24 and for only the second time in her career, she averaged eight digs per set. 
  • It was only the second time in her career she had had 20-dig games in both games of a weekend and first of the season. 
  • She now leads the RMAC in digs (307) and digs per set (4.72) and is ranked 63rd and 50th in the country respectively in each stat
