SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first game of their final home weekend of the regular season to Fort Lewis. Despite the team's being even with 12 shots apiece, the Skyhawks took advantage of their five corner kicks with a set piece in the 73
rd minute to score the lone goal of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams entered the halftime break in a scoreless tie after Karsyn Fraser-Slothower made a pair of saves in the first 20 minutes of action, as she picked up a slow rolling shot from Jenna Salazar in the 17th minute and corralled a shot off the bounce from Abigail Nkrumah in the 20th minute. In the 35th minute the Yellow Jackets saw their lone shot on target of the first half as Peyton Hill outran Renee Junna for a long breakaway pass and proceeded to place a shot towards the net that forced Trinity Lujan to make a diving save.
- Black Hills State used an early offensive attack to record the first two shots on target of the second half as Leah Day controlled the ball after a deflection on a shot by Jayda Hammer and proceeded to fire the ball towards the center of the net from the top of the box in the 52nd minute, then off a throw in from Bailey Smith it was Ainsley Wilson with a turnaround shot towards the center of the net in the 65th minute.
- The lone goal of the match came in the 73rd minute as Fort Lewis capitalized on a set piece from a corner kick, as Amber Otts sent the kick in to Josie Coulter who headed the ball into the right side of the net for a 1-0 advantage.
- The teams were even in shots (12-12) and saves (4-4), while Fort Lewis held the edge in shots on goal (5-4) and corner kicks (5-1).
