HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Rian Barthel made her first save of the contest in the second minute, Westminster was able to find the back of the net three times during the remaining 43 minutes of the first half. The Griffins first scored on a penalty kick by Kim Hendrickson in the 14th minute, then added a goal by Ashley Cardozo who placed the ball into the net off the top woodwork from inside the right side of the box in the 35th minute following a corner kick, and in the 42nd minute Gracie East found Kara Dickey on a long free kick from past midfield and was able to get the ball into the net after Barthel challenged her on the play.
- Black Hills State was held without a shot attempt in the first half, however, they quickly changed the momentum in the second half as they out-shot the Griffins 7-1. Lena Homan placed the first shot on target of the afternoon for the Yellow Jackets in the 62nd minute, then Kylie Hayes and Katy Vinton added shots on frame in the 68th and 71st minutes respectively.
