SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team made another two spot jump in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top-25 rankings on Tuesday afternoon, appearing at No. 17 in the fourth regular season release. The Yellow Jackets first appeared at No. 17 in the preseason release of the rankings in October, and after falling to No. 23 in the first regular season poll, have now jumped up two spots each of the last three weeks to get back to where they started the year.
After defeating UCCS (97-92) and Colorado Christian (96-76) this past weekend, the Green & Gold currently sit at a 9-1 (4-0 RMAC) record as they enter their final game before winter break. They are one of just two teams with an unblemished 4-0 conference mark and are followed by three teams with a 3-1 record in conference play after the first four games. Nationally the Yellow Jackets are amongst the top teams statistically in numerous categories, including ranking third in NCAA Division II in effective field goal percentage (60.4%), fourth in field goal percentage (51.8%), seventh in assists per game (19.7), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.63), 12
th in 3-pointers per game (10.8), 18
th in defensive rebounds per game (29.60), and 18
th in 3-point percentage (39.9%)
The Yellow Jackets continue to be the lone Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) team to be ranked or receiving votes, and again are one of five ranked or receiving votes in the South Central Region as Lone Star Conference foes West Texas A&M is No. 4, Lubbock Christian is No. 7, St. Mary's is No. 13, St. Edward's is No. 16, and Eastern New Mexico is receiving votes.
Black Hills State will play their final game of the 2025 calendar year on Friday, December 19, as they host Dickinson State in A2 Arena.
