SPEARFISH, S.D. – After a 2-0 week at the Dakota Challenge with wins over Minot State and UMary, the Black Hills State University men's basketball team remains ranked in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II Top-25 Poll, moving up two spots to No. 21. The Yellow Jackets, who have been off to the best start to a season since 2022-23, are now 5-1 as league play is about to begin. Statistically, this year's BHSU squad are ranked among the nation's leaders in several categories, ranking 13
th in assists per game (20.2), 23
rd in defensive rebounds per game (29.50), 26
th in effective field goal percentage (57.4%), and 28
th in field goal percentage (49.9%).
The Yellow Jackets are the lone Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) team to be ranked or receiving votes, and are one of five ranked or receiving votes in the South Central Region as Lone Star Conference foes Lubbock Christian appears at No. 4, St. Mary's is No. 9, St. Edward's is No. 11, West Texas A&M is No. 13, and Angelo State is receiving votes.
The Green & Gold are set for their first two RMAC games of the season this week, traveling to Rapid City, South Dakota, to face rivals South Dakota Mines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2. The Yellow Jackets will then make their home debut for the 2025-26 season on Thursday, December 4, when they welcome Chadron State to A2 Arena for a 7 p.m. contest in Spearfish.
