PUEBLO, Colo. – Doubling last week's provisional total, the Black Hills State University track & field teams collected a pair of NCAA provisional marks to begin the weekend of competition in Colorado. Highlighting the Yellow Jackets top marks once again at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl, were
Braden Anderson who broke the school record and hit a provisional time in the 800m run, and
Kendall Tietjen who hit a provisional time in the 400m hurdles with the second-fastest time in program history. While Anderson and Tietjen recorded those marks at the Chuck Haering Invitational hosted by CSU Pueblo with the mid-distance crew and long jumpers, the pair of
Ryan Baker and
Logan Class posted top-10 finishes and career-best hammer throw marks at the Jack Christiansen Invitational hosted by Colorado State.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT JACK CHRISTIANSEN INVITATIONAL
- In the lone men's event of the day in Fort Collins, the pair of Ryan Baker and Logan Class notched top-10 finishes in the hammer throw with ninth and tenth place finishes. Baker recorded a career-best mark of 47.43m (155' 7.25") that cracked the top-10 of the school's all-time performance list and ranks ninth in program history, while Class also posted a career-best mark of 46.39m (152' 2.25").
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT CHUCK HAERING INVITATIONAL
- Braden Anderson secured his spot in Yellow Jacket history as the top 800m runner as he is now the school record holder for the event in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He became the first BHSU runner to ever eclipse the 1:50 mark, clocking a career-best time of 1:49.96 for a fourth place finish, an NCAA provisional time, and the top time in the school record books.
- Also competing in the 800m run was Drew Lehman, who recorded a 15th place finish with a career-best time of 1:57.29.
- The Yellow Jackets took two of the top-3 places in the 400m hurdles as Aiden O'Leary earned the win with a career-best time of 53.20, moving into fourth all-time in school history in the event. Additionally, with a third place finish, Flynn Johnston moved into a tie for eighth place all-time on the BHSU performance list as he ran to a career-best time of 54.74.
- The lone field event competitor for the Green & Gold, Javin Walker recorded a 14th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.08m (19' 11.5").
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT CHUCK HAERING INVITATIONAL
- The pair of Brooklyn Brooks and Jillian Brennan ran to a 13th and 17th place finish in the 800m run, posting times of 2:24.80 and 2:30.97 respectively.
- Kendall Tietjen moved into second in school history in the 400m hurdles, posting a career-best and NCAA provisional time of 1:01.37 to win the event.
- The 4x400 relay team of Saraya Afrank, Brennan, Gracie Wilts, and Tietjen ran to a third place finish and time of 4:00.23.
- The lone field event competitor for the Yellow Jackets, Afrank posted a top-10 finish in the long jump with a career-best mark of 5.27m (17' 3.5") for ninth place.
