SPEARFISH, S.D. – After collecting 22 top-10 finishes a week ago in their outdoor season opener, the Black Hills State University track & field teams will travel to Fort Collins, Colorado, to compete at the Jack Christiansen Invitational. The Yellow Jackets will look to add to their list of NCAA provisional qualifiers as pole vaulter

BLACK HILLS STATE MEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES
- While during this year's indoor slate he broke both the 60m and 200m dash school records, Jace Johnson currently ranks sixth all-time in 100m dash with a career-best time of 10.86 occurring at last year's Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri.
- During the 2025 outdoor season opener at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational, freshman Aiden O'Leary found his place in the school record books with a career-best time of 54.23 for sixth all-time in the 400m hurdles.
- Another indoor school record holder, in the 800m run, Braden Anderson looks to claim the feat in the outdoor record books as well, currently ranking fourth in program history with a career-best outdoor time of 1:52.04 that occurred at last year's Bryan Clay Invitational.
- Currently ranking fifth on the Yellow Jacket All-Time Performance List in the decathlon is Conor McGraw, who tallied a career-best 6,272 points at the 2022 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
- Alex Kemp is in his first season as the head coach of the Black Hills State men's and women's track & field teams.
BLACK HILLS STATE WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES
- Kendall Tietjen enters the 2025 outdoor season ranked third all-time in school history in the 400m hurdles, having posted a career-best time of 1:03.33 at the 2024 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
- Sylvia Brown holds the school record in the 10,000m run and ranks second all-time in program history in the 5,000m run, posting career-best outdoor times of 35:32.14 and 17:31.03 respectively. She broke the 10,000m record at the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational, while her top outdoor time in the 5,000m run occurred at the 2023 Portland Distance Carnival.
- Alivia Weathers ranked within the top-10 of the Yellow Jacket All-Time Performance List in a pair of events, ranking sixth in the javelin throw with a career-best mark of 37.44m (122' 10"), and then she ranks eighth in the heptathlon after she totaled a career-best 3,928 points, both of which occurred at the 2024 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
- One of the top pole vaulters in BHSU history, Erin Weibel enters the outdoor season ranked seventh in the school's record books with a career-best outdoor mark of 3.40m (11' 1.75") that occurred at the Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri in 2024.
