Yellow Jackets Secure Second Shutout of the Season in Scoreless Draw with Rangers

KEARNEY, NEB. – The Black Hills State University women's soccer team posted their second clean sheet of the season on Sunday morning, playing to a scoreless draw with Northwestern Oklahoma State at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium. The Rangers entered the contest having scored in each of their first three matches of the season, however, BHSU was able to keep them off the scoreboard for the first time this year. Through four matches the Green & Gold have limited their opponents to just 6.3 shot attempts and 3.8 shots-on-goal per match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With an early shot on goal by Whitney Hansen in the 15th minute, Black Hills State's offense looked to grab the momentum of the game, posting three shot attempts and four corner kicks before Northwestern Oklahoma State recorded their first shot attempt of the match in the 27th minute.
  • Similar to the first half, the second half started with the Yellow Jackets threatening to score as Aubri Roth notched back-to-back shots from just in front of the net as the first one was saved back to her and the second went wide right in the 46th minute. Within the first 12 minutes of the half the Green & Gold notched five shot attempts and three corner kicks.
  • BHSU goalkeeper, Karsyn Fraser-Slothower, made two saves in the final 12 minutes of action, including one in the 89th minute to secure her first shutout as a Yellow Jacket.
  • Black Hills State held the advantage in shots (16-5), shots-on-goal (5-3), and corner kicks (10-3), while Northwestern Oklahoma State held the edge in saves (5-3).
