Yellow Jackets Enter Top-10 in Final NABC Top-25 Poll

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team will take NCAA Division II's seventh-longest winning streak of ten games into the NCAA Tournament this weekend, as well as a top-10 ranking in the National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II Top-25 Rankings. The No. 10 Yellow Jackets reached their highest ranking of the season in the final release of the poll on Tuesday morning, holding a record of 27-4 (17-3 RMAC) as the regular season and tournament champions of the RMAC. They clinched the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with wins over UCCS (74-73), Fort Lewis (77-75), and Colorado Mesa (89-77) to close out the home slate 13-1 in A2 Arena.

The Yellow Jackets remain among the top statistically in the nation in several different categories, including ranking second in NCAA Division II in defensive rebounds per game (29.23), is sixth in effective field goal percentage (57.7%), is ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.51), is tenth in assists per game (18.0), is 11th in 3-point percentage (38.6%), is 13th in 3-pointers per game (10.3) is 16th in field goal percentage (49.3%), is 17th in free throw percentage (77.1%) and scoring margin (+13.2), and is 24th in rebound margin (+6.0).

The Yellow Jackets, now the highest ranked team in the South Central Region, are the lone team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) to be ranked or receiving votes and are one of five ranked or receiving votes in the region as Lone Star Conference foes Eastern New Mexico is No. 13, Lubbock Christian is No. 14, Dallas Baptist is No. 15, and St. Edward's is receiving votes.

Black Hills State begins their NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament run on Saturday, March 14, as they face Lubbock Christian in an 11 a.m. MT / 12 p.m. CT tip-off the Burg Center in Dallas, Texas. All NCAA Tournament games will be streamed live for free on NCAA Championships Pass and will also be available on KDSJ Radio.
