SPEARFISH, S.D. – In a split weekend for the Black Hills State University men's and women's track and field teams last Friday and Saturday, the Yellow Jackets captured 23 new career-best marks and times, seven event wins, and set six new all-time top-10 marks in school history. On Friday the Yellow Jackets competed at the Chadron State "Con Marshall" Early Bird, where both the men's and women's teams finished third place in the team race competing against regional rivals Chadron State and South Dakota Mines.
Ryan Baker set the lone top-10 mark of the weekend on the men's side, capturing a third place finish in the hammer throw that ranks eighth in program history. Earning event wins in Chadron were
Adam Stimes (high jump) and
Bridger Anderson (long jump). Also, on Friday afternoon
Cassidy Goddard earned a pair of event wins in the discus and hammer throw, while
Alivia Weathers (100m hurdles) and
Lauryn Bennett (pole vault) also earned event victories. Goddard's mark in the hammer throw and Bennett's mark in the pole vault each ranked top-10 in school history. On Saturday in Pueblo, Colorado, at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational, the Yellow Jacket women saw
Evie Boyd win the 10,000m run and teammate
Emma Hofmeister join her as they each clocked top-10 times in school history in the event, while
Avery Marler record a top-10 program time in the 400m dash.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT THE CHADRON STATE "CON MARSHALL" EARLY BIRD
- The pair of Dawson Lindeen and Jude Guevara recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in the 100m dash on Friday, as Lindeen clocked a career-best time of 11.29 for seventh place and Guevara was close behind in eighth place with a time of 11.37.
- Logan Boyd was the lone Yellow Jacket to compete in Friday's 400m dash, clocking a career-best time of 53.98 for a ninth place finish.
- The Yellow Jackets went 1-2 in the high jump, with Adam Stimes leading the way by clearing 1.94m (6' 4.25") for the victory in the event. Trennan Pearson was a close second place by clearing 1.91m (6' 3.25").
- The duo of Lindeen and Jeremy Harms recorded a pair of top-3 finishes in the pole vault, as Lindeen cleared a height of 4.30m (14' 1.25") for second place and Harms cleared 4.15m (13' 7.25") for third place.
- The Yellow Jackets were dominant in the long jump on Friday, sweeping the top-5 places in the event. Bridger Anderson recorded a winning mark of 6.64m (21' 9.5"), while Jayden Curtis was second with a mark of 6.63m (21' 9"), Javin Walker was third with a career-best mark of 6.60m (21' 8"), Pearson was fourth with a mark of 6.55m (21' 6"), and Seth Wilson was fifth with a mark of 6.64m (21' 2.5"). Rounding out BHSU athletes competing in the event was Guevara who finished tenth with a mark of 5.53m (18' 1.75").
- Matthew LoFaso was the lone Black Hills State athlete competing in the shot put, posting a mark of 12.95m (42' 6") for seventh place.
- Ryan Baker was the lone Yellow Jacket competing in the discus throw, recording a mark of 45.04m (147' 9") for second place.
- In the hammer throw, Baker led a pair of Yellow Jackets with top-10 finishes, recording a career-best throw of 52.51m (172' 3") for third place. Baker's mark also moved him up into eighth place all-time in the event in program history. Barren Yellow Bird added a sixth place finish and a career-best mark of 44.11m (144' 9") for a top-10 finish. Rounding out the Yellow Jackets competing was LoFaso who was 11th with a mark of 30.62m (100' 5").
- Black Hills State saw four individuals finish within the top-10 of the javelin, led by Casen Wilson who recorded a career-best mark of 48.02m (157' 6") for third place. Also finishing within the top-10 was Torin Knight who was sixth with a mark of 43.16m (141' 7"), Yellow Bird who was eighth with a mark of 37.37m (122' 7"), and Seth Wilson who was tenth with a mark of 27.70m (90' 10").Â

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT THE DR. DAN CAPRIOGLIO INVITATIONAL
- The lone Yellow Jacket in the 100m dash and 200m dash, Ashley Williams recorded a 20th place finish in the 100m dash with a career-best time of 10.97, while he added a 34th place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 23.30.
- The lone runner in the 800m run for Black Hills State, Caden Strasser clocked a time of 2:04.64 for a 22nd place finish.
- The Yellow Jackets had a host of athletes competing in the 1500m run, led by Jaxon Straus and Jonah Rigg who recorded top-30 finishes with times of 4:05.33 and 4:05.78 for 28th and 30th place respectively. Close behind the top pair was Dominic Eberle and Strasser, who notched times of 4:05.93 and 4:06.76 for 31st and 33rd place respectively. Then rounding out the group was Anthony Ackerman in 46th place with a time of 4:10.73 and Levi Smith in 62nd place with a time of 4:22.20. Both Eberle and Ackerman recorded career-best marks in the event.
- Turner Christians led a trio of Yellow Jackets in the 10,000m run, clocking a time of 32:55.52 for 18th place. Competing in the event for the first time in their collegiate career were freshmen Emmett Swartzentruber who was 22nd with a time of 33:40.66 and Gage Kuhlenbeck who was 26th with a time of 34:18.89.
- Landrum Wiley led the way for Black Hills State in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing second with a career-best time of 9:34.45, while Thomas Oylear added an 11th place finish and time of 10:06.10 and Alberto Spotted was 15th with a time of 10:23.91.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT THE CHADRON STATE "CON MARSHALL" EARLY BIRD
- The trio of Alessandra Broussard, Sophia Kennedy, and Alexa Colman each recorded top-6 and career-best times in the 100m dash on Friday, running to times of 12.75 for third, 13.23 for fifth, and 13.51 for sixth respectively.
- In the 200m dash, the duo of Alivia Weathers and Kennedy ran to a fifth and sixth place finish respectively, with Weathers clocking a career-best time of 27.70 and Kennedy recording a career-best time of 28.05.
- Weathers added a career-best and winning time of 16.29 for Black Hills State in the 100m hurdles.
- Also, the lone Yellow Jacket in the high jump, Weathers cleared a height of 1.40m (4' 7") for second place in the event.
- The Yellow Jackets swept the top-3 placings in the pole vault, led by Lauryn Bennett earning the win with a career-best mark of 3.65m (11' 11.75") that ranks eighth in program history. Finishing second was Hope Bryant who cleared a height of 3.35m (10' 11.75") and in third was Colman who cleared a height of 2.90m (9' 6.25").
- In the long jump, Adlyn Eng was the lone Yellow Jacket competing and finished second in the event with a mark of 5.04m (16' 6.5").
- Hanah Sullivan, the lone Yellow Jacket competing in the shot put, recorded a mark of 12.28m (40' 3.5") for fourth place.
- Cassidy Goddard captured the win in the discus, recording a throw of 41.54m (136' 3") for the event win. Adding a top-5 finish was Sullivan who posted a mark of 38.36m (125' 10") for fourth place.
- Goddard and Sullivan recorded a 1-2 finish in the hammer throw, as Goddard notched a career-best and winning throw of 50.75m (166' 6") and Sullivan posted a career-best throw of 46.95m (154' 0") for second place.
- Goddard and Broussard added top-10 finishes in the javelin, with Goddard recording a throw of 26.48m (86' 10") for eighth place, while Broussard notched a mark of 26.00m (85' 4") for ninth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT THE DR. DAN CAPRIOGLIO INVITATIONAL
- Saraya Afrank was the lone Yellow Jacket competing in the 200m dash, recording a time of 26.44 for a 27th place finish.
- In the 400m dash, Avery Marler made her collegiate outdoor debut by clocking a career-best time of 58.03 for a sixth place finish and finding herself ninth on the school's all-time performance list in the event. Gracie Wilts added a 19th place finish and time of 1:01.88.
- Recording a top-10 finish in the 800m run, Jillian Brennan notched a sixth place finish and time of 2:21.45 to lead the way for the Green & Gold, while Madison Zander added a time of 2:27.62 for 12th place.
- Nicole Clark, also among the several freshman making their outdoor collegiate debuts this weekend, recorded a time of 5:14.59 for 47th place in the 1500m run.
- While capturing the win in the 10,000m run, Evie Boyd also cracked the top-10 all-time in BHSU program history and currently ranks sixth in Yellow Jacket history as she recorded a career-best time of 37:29.73. Also, securing a top-10 time in school history, Emma Hofmeister ranks tenth in school history with a time of 38:19.90 while placing fourth in event. Abigail Robberson rounded out the trio by clocking a time of 39:06.02 for eight place and a top-10 finish.
- Madyson Wolfe earned a 12th place finish in the 400m hurdles, recording a time of 1:11.60 in her collegiate debut in the event.

Black Hills State men's and women's track & field will be in action next at the Jack Christiansen Invitational hosted at Colorado State University on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28. The lone event of the day on Friday afternoon will be the men's hammer throw at 2 p.m., while the rest of the meet will take place on Saturday beginning at 9:50 a.m. at the Jack Christiansen Track in Fort Collins, Colorado.
