EL DORADO, Kan. – Last Friday, April 10, the Black Hills State University men's and women's track & field teams traveled south to the Grizzly Gold Invite hosted by Butler Community College as the distance runners competing notched nine career-best times. On the men's side they tallied five career-bests and saw three top-10 finishes, highlighted by a sixth place finish by
Caden Strasser in the 1,500m run. On the women's side the Yellow Jackets posted four career-best times and was highlighted by a fifth place finish in the 10,000m run by
Abigail Robberson as she cracked the top-10 times in program history in the event.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Caden Strasser notched a top-10 finish in the 1,500m run, clocking a career-best time of 3:58.57 for sixth place, while Anthony Ackerman added a 14th place finish and career-best time of 4:06.05 in the event.
- In the 5,000m run Emmett Swartzentruber ran to a career-best time of 15:18.36 for an 11th place finish.
- Leading a trio of Yellow Jackets in the 3,000m steeplechase, Thomas Oylear ran to a career-best time of 9:24.88 for a top-10 finish, crossing the line in eighth place. Joining him, Sean Shipp competed in the event for the first time in his collegiate career and ran to a top-10 and tenth place finish with a time of 9:51.45 and rounding out the trio was Alberto Spotted who posted a career-best time of 9:58.87 for 12th place.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- In the 1,500m run, Alyssa Brandt and Nicole Clark clocked career-best times of 5:05.47 and 5:07.47 respectively for 13th and 16th place finishes.
- Sierra Hopp led the way with a 12th place finish in the 5,000m run with a career-best time of 18:25.43, while Brandt competed in the event for the first time in her collegiate career and posted a 15th place time of 19:06.61.
- Abigail Robberson notched a top-5 finish with a career-best time of 37:58.62 for fifth place in the 10,000m run, which also ranks tenth in program history in the event.
