Tucson, Ariz. – The Black Hills State University softball team picked up two wins on Friday at the Tucson Invitational.
The Yellow Jackets fell in the first game of the day to Waldorf 7-5. Aleishia Giesey was 2-for-4 in the game with a homerun. Kyley Barela, Alex Huntington, Ashley Berg and Karly Ackerman each singled in the contest. Katie Wagner took the loss.
Black Hills State bounced back in the second contest and defeated Siena Heights 14-10. Berg was a perfect 5-for-5 in the game and Ackerman was 2-for-3. Regina Thaler picked up two singles in the game. Huntington had three hits and a stolen base. Black Hills State scored seven runs in the second inning. Huntington was the winning pitcher in the game.
The Yellow Jackets wrapped up the day defeating Minnesota West Community College 8-3. Becca Hugley hit a grand slam and Nikki Chacon picked up the victory.
Black Hills State will compete in the final day of the Tucson Invitational on Saturday, March 12. The Yellow Jackets will take on Judson and Aquinas to wrap up the seven-day 14-game road trip.
