Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team split two games with Great Falls on Sunday afternoon at the Black Hills State Softball Complex in Spearfish, S.D.
The Yellow Jackets won the first game 8-4. Black Hills State fell behind early giving up three runs in the first inning. The Yellow Jackets battled back scoring four runs of their own in the third inning. Black Hills State would go on to score four runs in the final two innings. Junior Aleishia Giesey was 2-for-3 in the game scoring two runs and batted in one run. Lenaya Vigil was also 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs. Katie Wagner earned with win in the circle.
In the second game of the day, Black Hills State was defeated 13-5. Freshman Kelsie Chambers was saddled with the loss. Once again, the Yellow Jackets fell behind early 8-1. after the second inning. Black Hills State could not overcome the explosive hitting of Great Falls. Offensively, Black Hills State was led by Freshman Kelsie Chambers. Chambers was 3-for-4 in the game and drove in with four RBIs. Senior Ashley Berg was 4-for-4 the plate and scored three runs. Chambers took to the loss in the circle.
Black Hills State will return to action on Saturday, March 26 against Dakota State for a doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for 12 noon CT and 2 p.m. CT.
