Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team lost its first two conference games of the season today by scores of 5-9 and 7-8 against Jamestown. The Yellow Jackets are now 5-13 overall and 0-2 in DAC play.
The Yellow Jackets came out swinging in the first game of the doubleheader with junior Aleishia Giesey hitting a two run homerun. Giesey's homerun was followed immediately by a solo shot from freshman Kelsie Chambers. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the early three run lead and Black Hills State gave up nine runs in the contest. Junior pitcher Katie Wagner was tagged with the loss.
In the second game, the Yellow Jackets fell into a hole early. The Jimmies built a 5-7 lead going into the seventh inning. Black Hills State rallied back to tie the game at 7-7 and sent the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth inning Jamestown was able to score on a wild pitch. Freshman Kelsie Chambers takes the loss for the second game.
The Yellow Jackets are back on the diamond tomorrow for another DAC Conference doubleheader against Jamestown. The first game is scheduled for 12 noon MT.
