Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team fell to Mayville State by a score of 4-2 on Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets were down 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning when freshman Kelsie Chambers hit a two-run bomb to left field to give Black Hills State the 2-1 lead. Pitcher Katie Wagner gave up two runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth inning.
Black Hills State managed only four hits in the game, the Chambers homerun and singles from Aleishia Giesey, Alex Huntington and Kelli Heiser. The Yellow Jackets were committed two errors in the contest.
The Yellow Jackets are now 8-22 on the year and 3-9 in conference play.
Black Hills State will return to action Wednesday, April 20 as the team will square-off against Western Nebraska Community College at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in exhibition games in Spearfish.
