Madison, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team split a doubleheader with Dakota State on Monday afternoon in Madison, S.D.
In the first game, the Yellow Jackets fell to the Trojans 1-10. Black Hills State found itself behind early 5-0 after the first inning. The Yellow Jackets scored their only run in the first game in the top of the second inning as Krista Gleiforst drove in Kelli Heiser. The Trojans would score five runs over the next two innings and Black Hills State was not able to mount a comeback.
Black Hills State would get the 6-2 victory in the second game. Aleishia Giesey went 3-for-4 in the game, drove in one run, and scored two runs. Two of Giesey's three hits went for triples. Alex Huntington had a solid performance in the circle giving up only two runs on four hits.
The Yellow Jackets are now 9-23 overall and 4-10 in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
Black Hills State play another doubleheader against Dakota State on Tuesday, April 26 in Madison, S.D. Game times are set for 3 p.m. CT and 5 p.m. CT.
