Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State volleyball team fell to No. 16 Colorado School of Mines on Saturday afternoon in Golden, Colo.
The Yellow Jackets fell in straight-sets (14-25, 16-25, 18-25).
Caitlin Templeton had another strong game for BHSU as she recorded a team-high 10 kills (.350 kill percentage). Amy O'Neill added eight. The Yellow Jacket defense was anchored by O'Neill, Holly Hamlin and Darbi Yost who had four blocks. Kelsey Olson led the Jackets will 10 digs and Meghan Sipe added seven.
Mines had three players finish with double-digit kills including Holly Hutchinson (11), Jackie Stabell (10) and Melanie Wannamaker (10).
"We faced another great opponent in No. 16 Colorado Mines," said head coach Sally Nichols. "Caitlin Templeton had a strong performance and we had great defensive performances from Kelsey Olson and Meghan Sipe, but in the end we fell short."
The Jackets will now play in their final away game of the season against Chadron State on Tuesday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
