VB: No. 6 Colorado Mines Sweeps Yellow Jackets

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Playing the top team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and a squad ranked No. 6 in the nation, the Black Hills State University volleyball team fell 3-0 to Colorado School of Mines Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets were unable to get into an offensive rhythm falling in the three sets 25-16, 25-13 and 25-20. Colorado Mines improves to 22-2 overall and 15-1 in the RMAC while the Yellow Jackets fall to 9-16 overall and 7-9 in the loop.

The Orediggers utilized a .288 attack percentage, including a .577 in the second set, compared to the Yellow Jackets .049 to help swing the match in favor the CSM.

Meghan Sipe led the Yellow Jackets with seven kills while Brynn Eckhardt had 18 assists. Lacy Stevens had a match-high 21 digs. Holly Hamlin, who entered the weekend in the top-15 in the nation in blocks per set, added four more to season total.

CSM placed three in double-digit kills, led by Megan Peterson with 13 and a .417 attack percentage. Ellie Monarch and Alanna Winfield each had 11 kills apiece.

Black Hills State plays its final home match of the season Tuesday night hosting rival South Dakota Mines. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
