PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Black Hills State University distance medley relay team earned All-America honors for the second-straight year as the Green and Gold set a school record finishing in 9:49.67.
The relay team consisting of Jonah Theisen, Mark Fruechte, Levi Fried and Alec Baldwin all ran personal-best splits in the race, including an improvement of four seconds by Theisen. Three of the four members of the team are new to this year's version with Baldwin being the only holdover. The time is a school record by five seconds, which was set last season at the national meet.
Madison McLaughlin finished just off the eight-person All-America team as she placed ninth in the weight throw. The senior had a long toss of 59-7 to on her third attempt of the day. Her other qualifying throws were 57-3.75 and 56-10.
Baldwin also ran in the prelims of the mile run where he won his heat in a time of 4:06.11. Out of the nine-man field for Saturday's finals, Baldwin's time ranks fourth.
Baldwin along with McLaughlin each compete Saturday. Baldwin with his mile run and McLaughlin in the shot put where she is ranked fifth entering the meet.
