SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team looks to finish up the 2018 season against conference rival, South Dakota Mines, on Nov. 2.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. on Friday night. 

The Yellow Jackets walked away with a 3-0 sweep over the Hardrockers in the last matchup earlier this season.  Senior Sierra Stugelmeyer lead Black Hills State with 11 kills, followed by teammate Carisa Becerra with 10.

South Dakota Mines enters the weekend with a 4-23 overall record (1-16 conference), after falling in their last two matches to MSU Denver and Chadron State.

The Hardrockers are led by freshman Dana Thompson, who has 390 kills this season.  Thompson leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as well with 4.11 kills per set.  Alongside the Colorado native, Shyann Bastian leads the Hardrockers with 563 assists, averaging 6.26 assists per set.

On defense, Tana Dahlberg leads with 452 digs, averaging 4.86 digs per set to be ranked fourth on the RMAC leader board for the Hardrockers.  Hannah Stevenson totals 66 blocks for SD Mines.

Black Hills State heads into the final game of the season with an 8-16 overall record (5-12 conference) after falling to MSU Denver, 3-0, and defeating Chadron State, 3-1, to split the weekend.

Jadie DeLange leads the Yellow Jackets with 165 kills, averaging 2.36 kills per set.  Following closely behind DeLange is Stugelmeyer, carrying 155 kills for the Green and Gold.  Laurel Lech leads the offense with 667 assists to be eighth in the RMAC, averaging 7.94 assists per set.

Defensively, Makayla Bell and Carisa Becerra each total 60 blocks this season to lead the Yellow Jackets, while Stugelmeyer tallies 59 blocks.  Bell is ranked fifth in the RMAC, averaging .98 blocks per set.  Sophomore Valerie Blake leads the defense with 289 digs to average 3.44 digs per set.
