Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team fell, 3-0, to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions won by scores of 25-13, 25-12, and 25-19.
In the first set, UCCS jumped out to a 6-0 start, and never turned back. The Yellow Jackets were unable to string a run together as the Mountain Lions eventually went on to take the set, 25-13.
UCCS kept its momentum going after taking a 5-0 run to lead, 10-2, over the Green and Gold. The two teams exchanged points, but the Yellow Jackets fell short in finding a rhythm to push ahead of the Mountain Lions. UCCS held on to its lead to take the second set, 25-12, and lead the match, 2-0.
With back-and-forth action to start the third set, neither team set up a substantial lead. The Yellow Jackets went on a 3-0 run to take its first lead of the match, 7-6. A kill from
Laurel Lech pushed the Green and Gold to an 8-7 lead. The Mountain Lions responded by going on a 4-0 run to make the score, 16-10, in favor of UCCS. Unable to cut the gap, the Yellow Jackets fell in the final set, 25-19, as the Mountain Lions took the match, 3-0.
Laurel Lech led the Green and Gold with six kills, 10 assists, and 10 digs in tonight's match.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action to face Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 22 at the Donald E. Young Center. First serve is set at 5:30 p.m.
