NEW ORLEANS, La. – Eleven Student Athletes from the Black Hills State University cross country teams were recently honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their efforts both at the National Cross Country Championships and in the classroom this past fall. Additionally, both squads were named All-Academic Teams. The women's team posted an impressive 3.51 team GPA, while the men put together a 3.4 team GPA. This is the first time the women's team has received the honor, while it is the second for the men's team.
To be eligible for the honor, a team must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and have scored at an NCAA DII Regional Meet. An individual must have at least a 3.25 GPA and have finished in the top third at their regional meet and/or in the top half at the NCAA Championships.
USTFCCCA All-Academic Honorees:
Josh Davis, redshirt senior from Lamar, Colo., graduated this December with a degree in Exercise Science. He captured 161st at the National Meet.
Jake Iverson, redshirt junior from Winnet, Mont., is majoring in Exercise Science. He ran to 111th place at the national meet.
Keith Osowski, redshirt freshman from Kodiak, Alaska, is majoring in Chemistry. He finished 154th at the National Meet.
Jonah Theisen, senior from Kenai, Alaska, is a dual major in Chemistry and Physical Science. He finished in 14th at the National Meet to earn All-American Honors.
Jordan Theisen, redshirt freshman from Kenai, Alaska, is majoring in Exercise Science. He took 137th at the National Meet.
Nicole Allerdings, junior from Plevna, Mont., is majoring in business. She finished 34th at Nationals to earn BHSU its first ever All-American Honors.
Nicole Davis, senior from Green River, Wyo., is majoring in biology. She ran to 164th at Nationals.
Savannah Davis, senior from Rapid City, S.D., is majoring in history education. She finished in 141st at Nationals.
Tori Moore, senior from Ipswich, S.D., is majoring in biology. She captured 100th place at Nationals
Xiomara Robinson, redshirt freshman from Sheridan, Wyo., is a dual major in Biology and Chemistry. She took 138th at Nationals.
Cailey Roth, senior from Freeman, S.D., is majoring in exercise science. She finished in 190th at Nationals.
