SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's cross country teams open the 2019 season at Rocky Mountain College September 13. The Frontier Preview Open will take place in Billings, Montana.
The Yellow Jackets open the season making an appearance in the USTFCCCA Preseason South Central rankings on both the men's and women's side. The Green and Gold men sit sixth in the region, while the women come in at number five. Five of the top six men's teams in the region are members of the RMAC, while all of the top six on the women's side belong to the league. The men are nationally ranked number 21, while the women are receiving votes.
The BHSU women's team is led by senior Nicole Allerdings. Last year, she placed 32nd at the Division II National Championships, earning All-American honors. Xiomara Robinson and Abbie Fredrick also helped lead the team to a 17th place finish.
The Yellow Jacket men lost All-American Jonah Theisen, but the trio of Jake Iverson, Jordan Theisen, and Keith Osowski will look to lead the Green and Gold.
Following this weekend in Montana, BHSU is next in action at the Gage McSpadden Memorial. The Yellow Jackets will host the meet at Spearfish Canyon Country Club.
