MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday. Competing against 32 Division II and III teams, the women's team took tenth. In the men's race, made up of 28 teams, the Yellow Jackets placed seventh.

"The Roy Griak Invite is an important meet for us every year. It brings together top ranked teams from all across the country. The women started us off with a solid finish in tenth place. Sophomores Xiomara Robinson and Ruby Lindquist had a strong showing for it being their first time at Griak. The men also had a strong showing with our top three near the front of the race. Our young fourth and fifth runners, Noah Bordewyk and Collin Brauer, just keep improving each race," said coach Scott Foley. "We are going take these solid results back to Spearfish and continue putting in the work. On both sides I believe we are just a few short weeks away from being two really dangerous teams."

The Yellow Jacket women were led by Xiomara Robinson who was 29th in 23:30.4. Ruby Lindquist finished 43rd (23:53.9), while Kelsey Van Den Hemel was 63rd (24:13.8). Nicole Allerdings placed 85th in 24:38.2, while Erica Dykstra was just behind in 94th in 24:48.1. Abbie Fredrick took 95th and Mayson Hudyma was 111th.

On the men's side, Jordan Theisen paced the Yellow Jackets, finishing 19th in 26:17.3. Jake Iverson was 22nd in 26:22.2, while Keith Osowski finished in 26:48.3 to take 34th. Noah Bordewyk placed 62nd (27:29.9) and Collin Brauer was 76th (27:43.4). Nolan Maher was 132nd, while Christian Gaytan took 139th.

Augustana won both the men's and women's races.

The Green and Gold will next be in action at the Roadrunner Invitational on October 5.
