Black Hills State athletics has announced Nicole Klungness and Matt Parker as its February Warriors of the Month.

Nicole Klungness
Klungness was selected as February Warrior of the Month, currently holding a cumulative GPA of 3.9. She exemplifies the strong character traits needed to effectively lead a team. Klungness has voluntarily taken on an active role as a leader amongst the team, and is helpful, supportive, and encouraging to existing and new team members.

The sophomore absolutely exemplifies all the positive characteristics needed to represent Black Hills State University. She wears the colors with pride, and she represents Black Hills State as an amazing student athlete and community member.

Klungness was a member of the SAAC during the 2019-2020 school year, and did a fantastic job representing the women's golf team. She also earned recognition from the Women's Golf Coaches Association as an All-American Scholar and has had her photography displayed at the Dahl Mountain Photo Contest.

She is an active participant within the Black Hills State University and Spearfish communities and is always one of the first to volunteer her time, whether it be helping with a team bonding activity, or volunteering to serve the Spearfish Community.

Matt Parker
Parker has been selected as February Warrior of the Month. He is a junior majoring in Physical Education with a 3.56 GPA. He recently won the Dave Little Alumni Mile 5K in a meet record of 15:02. He currently ranks fourth in the RMAC and 19th in the nation!

When Matt is not tearing it up on the track, he is helping with elementary school field days, being a Special Olympics volunteer, filling food boxes for the salvation army in Rapid City, and volunteering at the free sports skill clinic in Colorado Springs through BHSU SAAC.
