Shade will enter BHSU as a junior after spending her first two years at Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming under the coaching of Mike Neuman. She had some high finishes in her time there, placing second in their home tournament as a freshman, second in the Otero College Invitational, second in the Eastern Wyoming Invite, third in the Northeastern JC Invite, fourth in the fall Eastern Wyoming invite, and seventh in the NJC Fall Region Invite. In this past year, she finished third in her home tournament, fifth in the NJC Women Invite, and fifth in the fall Eastern Wyoming invite. Prior to her time in Riverton, Shade was dominant at the high school level for Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming under head coach Andrew Kennedy. Shade qualified for the Wyoming State Championships as a sophomore before jumping onto the scene with a third-place finish at state in her junior year, which earned her All-State. She then became a state champion in her senior year shooting an 82-83 for a 165 to take home the title. Her high school finished second that year in state as well. Shade is the daughter of Bill and Jeanette Ward and has one sibling, Charlotte.
Coach Doran's Thoughts: "Cheyenne was one of the top recruits on my list back in 2024 during her run toward becoming the Wyoming 4A Individual State Champion. When she decided to go to Central Wyoming JC she called me right away about her decision which says a lot about her as a person and her great character because that is never an easy phone call to have. Over the past couple years our tournament schedules had overlapped a few times where I got to see her play in person and perform well at those events, so when she wanted to find a place to finish her college career I am glad to have her joining us this fall for her final two years."
