GUNNISON, Colo. - The Black Hills State track and field teams had a strong outing at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships having three student-athletes named First Team All-Conference and four student-athletes name Second Team All-Conference.
Kyla Sawvell was named First Team All-Conference in both the women's shot put and the women's weight throw and was named Co-Athlete of the Meet for her performance over the weekend. Sawvell earned a first place finish Saturday in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.93m (48' 11.75") which also broke the facility record in Gunnison at the Mountaineer Field House.
Jadyn Gackle earned herself a huge personal record in the women's shot put and snagged a fifth-place finish with a throw of 12.97m (42' 6.75"). This also earned her Second Team All-Conference as a freshman.
Alexandra Cameron also competed in the shot put for BHSU bringing home an 11th place finish with a throw of 12.22m (40' 1.25"). For the men
Gevin Paas earned a mark of 13.33m (43' 9") placing 15th overall.
Conor McGraw wrapped up events in the heptathlon tallying 4470 points good enough for an eighth place finish for the Yellow Jackets.
A group of Yellow Jackets competed in the mile with
Ruby Lindquist finishing seventh for the women with a time of 5:10.55.
Xiomara Robinson also competed in the mile earning 16th with a time of 5:23.52. For the men
Tim Brown and
Marcos Valerio earned 16th and 17th place, respectively. Brown finished with a time of 4:28.58 while Valerio came across the finish line in 4:40.15.
Breanne Fuller competed in the finals of the women's 60m dash placing ninth with a time of 7.98.
BHSU had both a men's and women's 4x400m relay team compete today with the men placing eighth completing the race in 3:31.51 while the women placed ninth with a time of 4:10.56. Competing for the men included
Frank Becker,
Shane McGraw,
Mason Sartain, and
Levi Smith while
Erica Dykstra,
Sophie Curtis,
Breanne Fuller, and
Mikayla Tracy competed for the women.
Xiomara Robinson competed in the women's 3000m run and placed 10th with a time of 10:36.27.
Kendra McDonald tied for 12th in the women's high jump after jumping 1.56m (5' 1.25").
Rounding out the competing Yellow Jackets was
Erica Dykstra who took a 14th place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:22.14,
Reece Ullery in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.49m (44' 3.25") placing 15th, and
Mario Guerrero in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.04m (42' 9.5") in 17th place.

The Yellow Jackets worked hard this season and have multiple provisional marks and will soon find out who will be competing at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas March 10-12.
