Black Hills State rodeo hosted its 2023 Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede, April 27-29, seeing the Yellow Jackets have several top finishers throughout the double rodeo.
The first rodeo was a one-go that saw
Cashae McGee win the Women's All-Around. The second rodeo was a long-go and a short-go in which both the men and women's team placed first, and
Riley Staton won the Men's All-Around.
First Rodeo
Women
McGee won the Goat Tying with a 6.6, followed by a fifth-place finish from
Isabel Risse with a 7.3 and
Haley Husted in seventh with a 7.6.
Rachel Kelderman placed first in Team Roping with an 8.2.
Jayme Peterson finished fifth with a 12.8 while
Tessa Caspers and
Sidney Hanson placed eighth with a 13.6.
Emma Ohm finished fifth in the Breakaway with a 3.0.
In Barrel Racing, McGee placed second in 13.91,
Brooklyn Hanson came in fourth with a 14.04,
Tessa Caspers sixth with a 14.10, and
Sydney Theobald eighth in 14.14.
Men
Austin Madison won the Steer Wrestling with a 4.8, and Sam Larson finished second in Team Roping with a 13.4.
In the Tie Down,
Riley Staton came in fifth with a 12.1, and Madison placed sixth with a 12.5.
Second Rodeo
Women
McGee finished second in the Goat Tying with a 14.6 on two.
Riley Donnelly placed third with a 16.1 on two and Husted came in at fifth with a 16.4 on two. Ohm, posted a fourth-place finish in the long-go with a 6.9.
Chanci Kraft finished second in the Breakaway with a 6.3 on two. In the long-go, Peterson came in fourth with a 2.9, and Ohm was sixth with a 3.1.
In Team Roping,
Riley Hannum, along with
Brett Mattson, came in first with a 17.2 on two. The tandem of
Summer Richardson and
Slater Tople placed fifth with a 26.6 on two while Donnelly and
Nick Bjork finished sixth with a 28.2 on two.
Theobald finished third in the Barrel Racing with a 27.82 on two and Hanson came in fifth with a 27.86 on two.
Men
Staton won the Tie Down with a 18.9 on two with Madison right behind him in second with a 19.7 on two.
Luke Mavity placed fifth with a 25.1 on two while Bjork came in sixth with a 25.9 on two.
In Team Roping, Mattson, along with Hannum, came in first with a 17.2 on two followed by Staton in second with an 18.2 on two. The tandem of Tople and Richardson placed fifth with a 26.6 on two while Bjork and Donnelly finished sixth with a 28.2 on two.
